NEET UG Counselling 2026

NEET UG 2026 counselling is currently in progress, and eligible candidates can now register for Round 2 counselling through the official website. Students who have qualified the NEET UG 2026 examination can complete their registration at mcc.nic.in to participate in the seat allotment process.

The NEET 2026 examination, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), saw participation from 22,09,318 candidates nationwide. NEET UG counselling is the centralized process through which qualified students secure admission to MBBS, BDS, and BSc Nursing programs in government and private medical and dental colleges across India.

Applicants must have passed theNEET UG 2026 exam to be eligible for the counselling process. The National Testing Agency has published an information bulletin on the eligibility criteria for NEET 2026 for medical students on its official website, neet.nta.nic.in. In general, eligibility criteria include age, required subjects, and the candidate’s educational qualifications. Candidates must fulfil the following eligibility criteria for NEET UG counselling 2026:

  • Academic Qualification: Students must have completed Class 12 or an equivalent examination in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English subjects.
  • Minimum Marks: Candidates need to achieve category-specific minimum marks in PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), which include 50% for the General Category, 40% for SSC/ST/OBC, and 45% for Inter (General).
  • NEET 2026 Qualifying Percentile: Applicants need to score the minimum qualifying percentile in the NEET 2026 exam, which is the 50th percentile for the general category, the 40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC, and the 45th or 40th percentile for PwD candidates, depending on their category.
  • Age Limit: Participants must be at least 17 years of age as per the latest standard. Only students aged 17 years and above can apply as there is no upper age limit required.
  • Citizenship: As per the applicable rules and seat availability of NEET UG Counselling 2026, students must be Indian citizens or Non-Resident Indians NRIs or Overseas Citizens of India OCIs or Persons of Indian Origin PIOs and Foreign Nationals.

NEET 2026 counselling is divided into two parts:

  1. 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats: handled by MCC (Medical Counselling Committee).
  2. 85% State Quota (SQ) seats: Managed by the counselling authorities of each state.

The NEET counselling process is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). Here are the simple steps that will help the students:

  • Registration: Firstly, visit MCC official website, then click on the “UG Medical Counselling” and fill in personal details, NEET roll number, and other required information. Then, create a password and pay the registration fee.
  • Choice Filling and Locking: The candidate has to choose the medical or dental colleges and courses in order of preference. Candidates must lock the choices before the date; otherwise, the system will automatically lock the choices.
  • Document Verification: Students will have to show and confirm their documents at the college where they are given.
  • Seat Allotment: MCC will allot seats based on the NEET score, category, and choice preferences. The candidate will receive a seat allotment letter if selected.
  • Reporting to the College: After the seat allotment, the students have to report to the allotted college with his/her important documents and admission fees.

Candidates are advised to submit the required documents to appear for NEET Counselling 2026. All the documents must confirm the identity, eligibility, and educational qualification of the applicant. Without proper document verification, the candidate’s application may be rejected or considered incomplete. These documents are mandatory to be uploaded in the proper format and size specified by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
